4 things to get if you are new to golf
Golf beginners are often thrown in at the deep end and it can be a little daunting to work out what gear you need before you hit the fairway. This is the same with any sport really and although you are always going to need the right equipment such as irons and golf balls, some are more important than others.
This list will serve as a good starting point;
Some good golf irons – Choosing the right irons varies from person to person and much is down to personal preferance and experience. Having said that, if you choose a good set then you can get better far quicker. Forged blade irons are for those that are serious about golf, though be warned that they are harder to master than other irons.
Some decent golf shoes – If it is your first time, then any sports shoes will suffice, but if you plan on making it a regular thing then dont hesitate to invest in a good set of shoes. These are made for golfers and are built to make sure that your feet remain comfortable and dry, and may have advantages through other features such as spikes and cleats. This is also true for the ladies as well – even the most fashion aware woman golfer will find what they can still be stylish when wearing womens golf shoes.
Golf balls to suit your style – There are different types of balls you can use and if you are starting out, you will want to look at a golf ball that is quite forgiving. A distance golf ball will add extra distance onto your shots and in most cases you will have less swerve too. These would be best for anyone that is looking for straighter shots, with more distance but have yet to master the slice.
Keep your head protected in the sun – get a hat – Playing a full round of golf might mean you are on the course for most of the day. Not only will this help to shield your eyes from sun glare when you are taking shots, it will also help to prevent sun stroke. They arent expensive and are easy to keep in the car or your golf bag even when you arent wearing it.
You can get most other items as and when you have the money. If you intend on hanging out at the pavilion, you should be sure to check the rules and what attire needs to be worn before entering. Golf pants and shirts are not expensive and if you play often, its probably worth picking up a few pairs too.
